wedding gowns and dresses by emma paige

Once upon a time, I was looking to create some beautiful styled wedding sessions, and finding an amazing gown shop can be hard work. I was recommended to reach out to Paige, a custom dress designer in Toronto, for some help — and since then, Paige and I have been working together very closely on some of the most amazing weddings. Her vintage / modern style and taste is absolutely amazing, and her work has left people raising their eyebrows and constantly complimenting the dresses.

While working with Paige, I am always impressed with the quality of her work. I conducted a min-interview that focuses on her work in the wedding industry.

How did your passion for fashion begin?

Since I was 10 years old it has been my dream to be a fashion designer… Specifically a wedding gown designer. My mom was the one who introduced me to sewing and designing. She designed my sisters ballet costumes as well as mine, and made many of our dresses as kids. I found it so fascinating watching her turn a piece of fabric into something spectacular! She taught me how to read a pattern and run a machine.

Tell me about your business. What services do you offer?

I’m a ladies fashion designer, with a focus on wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses.

Your wedding is a day to celebrate your love as a couple with friends and family. You plan the day carefully so that it represents the two of you and your love story. Why not have a dress created that encapsulates your style, personality, and figure. Each dress is specifically designed for each woman to complement their physical and personality traits, while keeping in line with the wedding theme. Which, is where my slogan “the memory is yours to create” comes in. It’s exactly that. Make your wedding day yours and only yours. Make it unique to you and your partner.

You shouldn’t have to settle for a dress off the rack or settle for something that simply fits into your budget.

How would you describe your style?

Boho chic. I design strictly for women, so I’m inspired by a female’s natural curves, feminine lines and delicate features. Not one body is alike, so with each dress it’s challenging to ensure that the design flatters all the right areas while complementing the girls natural beauty and shape.

What do you love most about designing gowns for brides?

The energy and all the feelings and emotions that come with planning a wedding. From tears to fainting… You name it. I love every emotion that comes with it… It keeps me on my toes! Whether you’re planning a 500 person wedding or a small city hall wedding, it’s one of the most significant events in your life. To share your love and commitment with one other person for the rest of your life… That’s a huge deal and it’s pretty spectacular when you find that person; definitely something worth celebrating. I’m so honored to be a part of that and help each of my brides bring their dreams and vision to life.

What is the #1 advice you can give to brides when selecting a gown?

Forget about the trends!!! Forget what they’re saying in blogs and magazines. Sure, they’re great for inspiration and to get ideas, but don’t lose sight of what the day is really about.

This will probably be the most significant dress you will ever wear and it should embody perfection across mind, body and soul. Wear what feels right for your day, your style and who you are as an individual. The last thing you want is to walk down the aisle and your fiance doesn’t even recognize you. Be true to who you are and make sure that you’re comfortable. You’re going to spend an entire day in that dress… Make sure you can sit, eat and breath. No dress is worth giving that all up for

Are there other wedding items you offer?

I have been collecting ladies vintage clothing on the side for about 4 years now. It started as a business and now has turned into a hobby. The clothing is so special and I’m constantly looking to it for inspiration. Within that collection is a vintage bridalwear collection. So if that’s your jam… I have everything from slips, to lingerie, to gowns, coats, shawls, furs and more!
