Once in a while, you find someone in the wedding industry so awesome, that you can’t wait to tell everyone about. On my journey to enchance and develop my brand, I stumbled across a floral shop called ‘Just Blooms’ located in Cambridge. I was searching for a florist to work with during some stylized bridal shoots, and my wife sent me the instagram link of the shop. I immediately jumped in my car, and I went to meet Cayla — the owner of Just Blooms!
The first encounter with Cayla was fairly sudden and straight to the point, and I am sure she thought I was crazy when I approached her to work with me. She agreed to help me on my first styled session, and it snowballed from there. I worked with Cayla on a ton of projects, and I am always impressed with the quality of her work. I conducted a min-interview that focuses on her work in the wedding industry.
When did your love for florals begin?
I wish I could tell you I grew up loving flowers and always knew that being a florist was a dream of mine, but that’s not how it happened. I did however, always love being in the garden with my dad when I was younger but it wasn’t until my 20’s that I fell into floristry, sort of by accident. I was in my last year of college taking an event management course (I wanted to be a wedding planner) when I over heard a class mate talking about a flower workshop she had taken. I thought it might be something fun to do with a bunch of girlfriends but after intensive research I decided I needed more than just a workshop. Off to Toronto I went for a three week intensive course and the rest is history, I began my search for a floral position right away.
How would you describe your style?
Very natural, whimsical & loose. I like my designs to look like they’ve been tossed together from the garden.
What do you like most about creating flowers for engagements and weddings?
I take pride in handling every stage of the process – from the initial consultation, to ordering & designing, creating & the day of delivery & set-up. Designing for weddings and events is a true passion of mine, every moment makes me happy and grateful.
What is your #1 advice you give your brides when selecting a florist?
While budget is important, when determining what florist you are going to use it shouldn’t be the only factor taken into consideration. Do your research, look at website portfolios, read reviews and choose your florist for many reasons and not just one. Ie customer service, design style, experience, etc. Appreciate your designer & their creative style, their pricing likely reflects the quality of artistry involved.
Are there other products you offer at your flower shop?
We offer a wide range of plants, assorted pots, unique home décor and gift items.
